MichaelWe are happy to inform you about the second workshop Michael Dick is going to give in Holland. This year in Haarlem, close to Amsterdam . We would like to invite you for this workshop. It is a combination of meditation and movement practice.
Sumarah Meditation traditionally is offered for free and participation in the two sessions is possible independent from the movement sessions.

„Amerta Movement and Sumarah Meditation“ in Haarlem

Suprapto Suryodarmo, the founder of Amerta, writes in his workshop advertising:

The main intention of (…) Joged Amerta movement is to develop a way to lessen the sense of identification through the practice of movement.“

Amerta Movement is the term under which practitioners of this movement approach gather.
On the sumarah.net webpage you find the following definition of sumarah meditation: „Sumarah is a philosophy of life and a form of meditation that originally comes from Java, Indonesia. The practice is based on developing sensitivity and acceptance through deep relaxation of body, feelings and mind. Its aim is to create inside our self the inner space and the silence necessary for the true self to manifest and to speak to us. The word Sumarah means total surrender, a confident and conscious surrender of the partial ego to the universal self. The total surrender is to Life.“
These two approaches will be the ways of practicing together on this weekend with Michael Dick in Amsterdam.
As the main vehicle for „total surrender, that is to Life“ in Sumarah, we can become aware of and practice to follow the guiding energy (Tuntunan), by which the awakening of our true self and our ‚true inner guide‘ (Pamong Pribadi) may happen. The main practice is to develop a daily meditation closer to experiences from our special meditation and vice versa to bring and integrate those inner states more into our daily life.
In Amerta Movement we are lessening our sense of identification by opening up to an immediate knowing inherent to body and body-in-movement as a source for guidance, as the doorway. This process is enfolding by realizing and actualizing an alive and moving presence through, what Prapto calls: „the living measurment in movement, within constellation, context and composition.“ Amerta Movement enlivens us to sensual reality and to the sensuous language of the world and its boundless wordless dimension through the practice of movement.
So both, Amerta Movement and Sumarah Meditation, are practice ways for inner guidance to awaken to reality and its innermost truth.
